Matteo Lippi will appear as Alfredo Germont in "La Traviata", on December 6

On December 6th, in Giuseppe Verdi's opera "La Traviata," the role of Alfredo Germont will be performed by Italian tenor Matteo Lippi. This will mark the artist's first appearance at the Latvian National Opera.

His stage partners will include Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča as Violetta Valery, Rinalds Kandalincevs as Giorgio Germont, and Ilona Bagele as Flora. The conductor for the performance will be Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.

Tenor MATTEO LIPPI began studying singing with the mezzo-soprano Laura Bulian and continued his training at the CUBEC-Accademia di Belcanto in Modena under the guidance of Mirella Freni. In 2013, he won the Toti dal Monte competition and debuted as Rodolfo in La bohème in several theaters in Italy. The following year, still portraying the same role, he debuted at two important theaters where he would later become a regular guest: La Fenice and the Bolshoi. He made his debut as Alfredo in La traviata at La Fenice, a role that brought him back to Venice for several seasons. Subsequently, he debuted in Oslo and Florence, first in the courtyard of Palazzo Pitti for the Summer Season and then at the new Teatro del Maggio in Florence in the Verdi Popular Trilogy production conducted by Fabio Luisi. He has also performed at the San Carlo in Naples, the Terme di Caracalla for the Summer season of the Opera of Rome, the Danish Royal Opera, Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Norske Opera, Finnish National Opera, New National Theatre Tokyo, in Athens, Cagliari, Florence, Venice, Cardiff, Bologna, and elsewhere. His other debuts include Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with the Glyndebourne Festival Tour, Ruggero in La rondine at the Holland Park Festival in London, and Roberto in Le Villi in Modena. In January 2023, he made his debut at La Scala in I vespri siciliani, where he will soon return with Simon Boccanegra. His repertoire also includes Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, the title role in Ernani, the Duke in Rigoletto and Gustavo in Un ballo in Maschera, among others.
