Maestro Aleksandrs Viļumanis has written an important page in the music history of Latvia. The opera and ballet productions as well as numerous music recordings under his baton have shaped the musical taste and knowledge of several generations of music listeners. Maestro’s creative characteristics are deep, very emotional musicality and respectful attitude to dramaturgy of the score. His repertoire includes 70 operas and 30 ballets.

For the first part of the concert Maestro Viļumanis has chosen the most important pages of Latvian opera music. The repertoire for the second part was the result of a collaboration with soloist Egils Siliņš.
