This concert is centred around Robert Schumann’s song cycle A Poet’s Love, which is a wildly popular work that is rarely performed in its entirety. New Latvian National Opera soloists Rihards Millers and Jolanta Strikaite become the characters of the poet and his lover, showcasing their abilities to take on roles not only large-scale productions, but to also perform the fine nuances characteristic of chamber music. The programme will also include pieces by Richard Strauss, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Schubert and Felix Mendelssohn.
