Sergey Polyakov (tenor) graduated from the Russian Academy of Dramatic Art in 2005. From 2005 to 2007 he studied at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, performing Alméric in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Lensky and Triquet in Eugene Onegin, Lykov and Bomelius in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen.
Since 2009 he is a soloist of Novaya Opera in Moscow. Singer’s repertoire includes also Sergey in Shostakovitch’s Lady Macbeth of Mzensk, Radamés in Verdi’s Aida, Manrico in Il trovatore, Macduff in Macbeth, Charles VII in The Maid of Orleans and Oronte in I Lombardi, Des Grieux in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, Cavaradossi in Tosca and Calaf in Turandot, Herman in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Canio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Andrey Khovansky in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina and Grigory in Boris Godunov, etc. He has been a guest soloist with Deutsche Oper Berlin, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Royal Swedish Opera, Carnegie Hall, Mariinsky Theatre, Latvian National Opera, Lithuanian National Opera, Trondheim Opera and many others.
On January 16, 2019 tenor Sergey Polyakov debuted magnificently as Herman in The Queen of Spades at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. He will debut as Loris Ipanov in Fedora by Giordano at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania and Dick Johnson in Puccini’s Fanciulla del West at Estonian National Opera in Tallinn. His other future engagements include Herman in The Queen of Spades at Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, among others.
