The Latvian-Canadian mezzo-soprano, DARJA ZAHAROVA, received her Bachelor of Music degree from GITIS University, faculty of Opera Performance in 2015.
The singer began her professional career as a guest soloist at the Stanislavski and Nemirovich- Danchenko Moscow Opera Theatre in the role of Amore from Gluck’s «Orfeo ed Euridice». Later, she was invited to perform the title role in the premiere production of a contemporary opera by Elena Sedeleva – «Mirra». Opera was presented at the III International Chamber Opera Festival. Darja Zaharova was one of the featured artists at the Land of Enchantment Opera Institute 2016 and Operosa Summer Festival 2017. Following, was the production of Purcell’s «Dido and Aeneas» where she portrayed the 2nd Witch and the Lady.
First Prize winner of Allegretto Grazioso International Competition in 2018. First Prize winner of the VI International Festival of Vocal Art «Timbre» in 2022.
In 2022, she debuted at the Latvian National Opera as Fenena in production of Verdi’s «Nabucco». Upcoming performances include Polina in Tchaikovsky’s «Queen of Spades» in spring 2023.
