KRISTAPS SKULTE studied at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art School and the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. He is a graduate of the Art Academy of Latvia, and has MFAs in Scenography (1994) and Art (1995). He completed additional studies at the Netherlands Media Academy (2001).
Skulte is behind the creation of over 300 set designs, including for performances at the Dailes Theatre, the Latvian National Theatre, the Riga Russian Theatre, Latvian Youth Theatre, Valmiera Drama Theatre, Daugavpils Theatre, Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and Tallinn’s Vene Teater. His creative work also includes the set/stage design for countless popular and academic concert halls, work in film and television, and numerous ceremonies and award shows. Kristaps Skulte was nominated for the 2014 Golden Mask Theatre Award for the category Year’s Best Set Design.
