Zbigniew Graca is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw where he studied violin and operatic–symphonic conducting. He perfected his skills with Franco Ferrara in Siena (Italy) and with Rafael Kubelik in Lucerne. Zbigniew Graca is the recipient of main prizes in several conducting competitions, among them the International Nicolai Malko Competition for Young Conductors, the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors and the Hans Swarowsky International Conductors Competition. He has collaborated with Warsaw Radio Orchestra, Aachen Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Royal Theatre Orchestra and worked as the artistic director of the Polish State Opera of Wroclaw in 1989–90. Since 1989, he has been resident conductor of the Warsaw Chamber Opera where he prepared and conducted many operas by Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti, and has been contributing to the annual Mozart Festival since its first edition in 1991. Since 2017, Graca is the permanent conductor of the Polish Royal Opera. Since 1999, Mr. Graca has been collaborating with the Latvian National Opera where he conducted the premieres of the following Mozart’s operas: Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro and Zauberflöte. Mozart is one of the most important composers at Mr. Graca’s work.
