Irakli Kakhidze joined the music school in his birth town Batumi (Georgia) at the age of 17. He then started his singing training in 2000 at the Batumi Conservatory, in Marina Jakhutashvili’s class. He graduated in 2005.
After his graduation Mr Kakhidze joined the Opera Studio of the State Music Centre of Batumi, where he took to the stage in works such as Aleko by S. Rachmaninoff (The Young Gypsy); La traviata by G. Verdi (Alfredo); Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti (Edgardo); Cavaleria Rusticana by P. Mascagni (Turridu); as well as different Georgian operas such as Daïsi by Paliashvili (Malkhaz); Keto et Koté by Dolidzé (Koté).
Then came Carmen (Don José) and Les pêcheurs de perles (Nadir) by G. Bizet; La bohème by G. Puccini (Rodolfo) ; Le nozze di Figaro (Don Basilio); Don Giovanni (Don Ottavio) by W.A. Mozart; L'elisir d'amore by G. Donizetti (Nemorino).
He was then hired as soloist at Tbilisi Opera House, where he played notable roles such as Ismaele (Nabucco) and the Messenger (Aïda by G. Verdi); Turridu (Cavaleria rusticana by P. Mascagni); Alfredo (La traviata by G. Verdi). Besides these, he also had main roles in several Georgian works.
Since 2010, he has benefitted from particular support from the charity group "Tanadgoma" founded by Maestro Lado Atanéli, which has allowed him to sing in roles Caravadossi (Tosca by G. Puccini) and Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto by G. Verdi). Following these performances, Lado Atanéli invited him to sing, with his own supervision, several scenes of Tosca (Cavaradossi) in 2011, at the Roustavéli Theatre in Tbilissi.
In concert, he could be seen in notable roles such as the Solo Tenor part of Beethoven’s Symphonie n° 9 at the Summer Festival (Batumi Opera House).
Irakli Kakhidze was awarded by Georgia Theatre Society for the best performance of the role Turridu in Cavalleria rusticana (2007/2008 season) and won the Lado Atanéli Competition in 2011.
Irakli Kakhidze was a CNIPAL member for 2011 – 2013 seasons.
In November 2011 he perferomed in recital at the Marseille, Toulon and Avignon Opera Houses and in december he's part of the CNIPAL spectacle Dans le Salon de Mr Puccini at the Marseille and Avignon Opera Houses (Director: Jean-Louis Pichon).
In February 2012 he sings in Le Voyage Lyrique en Europe, Spectacle by The CNIPAL at the Gemenos Teater and in march he's Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor – Donizetti) and Turridu (Cavalleria Rusticana – Mascagni) at the Batumi Opera House.
In June Irakli Kakhidze has performed in recital at the Opera National de Lorraine (Nancy), and played Alfred in Die Fledermaus (Strauss) with the CNIPAL at the Marseille and Avignon Opera Houses. In july he performed in recital at the Festival Radio France et Montpellier, and in september at the International Organ Festival of Roquevaire.
In 2012, he became Commander of Georgian Dignity Order. In last november, he was Don Jose in Carmen (by Bizet) at the Daegu International Opera Festival (South Korea).
In February 2013, he was finalist at the Paris Opera Awards and has performed in recital at the Marseille, Avignon and Toulouse Opera Houses. In April, he has performed in a recital at the Bordeaux National Opera House. In July he was Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti) at the Tallinn Opera Festival (Estonia); Nemorino in L'Elisir d'Amore (Donizetti) at the Festival Opus Opera (Gattières) and performed in recital at the Festival Radio France et Montpellier. In July and august 2013, he is Rodolfo in La bohème (Puccini) at the Bergen National Opera (Norway) and Alfredo in La traviata (Verdi).
In 2014 Irakli Kakhidze took part in a master class by famous singers Leo Nucci and Rugerro Raimondi in Marselle, France. In the same year he successfully performed as Jose from the opera Carmen at the Batumi state Musical Center. The director of the performance was Gizo Zhordania, conductor Zaza Azmaiparashvili.
Also in 2014 Irakli Kakhidze was invited to perform at "Good Morning Europe", a concert held by European Commission in Brussels. The concert took place in the "Bozar" main hall.
Irakli performed at the charity event "Protected Society", organized by a famous soprano, Tamar Iveri's charity foundation. Irakli performed along with world class performers Tamar Iveri and Giorgi Gagnidze.
Since 2017/2018 season, Irakli Kakhidze is a soloist of the Nationaltheater Mannheim where his repertoire includes Pollione (Norma by Donicetti), Turridu (Cavalleria rusticana), Radames (Aida), Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Manrico (Verdi’s Il trovatore), Rodolfo (La bohème), title roles inDon Carlo and Ernani, and others.
In 2018/2019 he also performes the role of Turridu at the Theater Kiel Opernhaus This summer he will sing Radames at the Soirées Lyriques de Sanxay, in France.
