Raimonds Martinovs

RAIMONDS MARTINOVS graduated from the Riga Choreography High School in 2000, class of Juris Kaprālis. Raimonds Martinovs is a member of the LNO Ballet since 2000. He has received an additional training at the Anaheim Ballet Summer Courses (USA) and International Bartolin Ballet Seminar in Denmark.

 

In 2005, he participated at the New York International Ballet Competition. In 2008, he became the bronze medal winner in the I South African International Ballet Competition.

 

In 2004, Raimonds Martinovs and Elza Leimane were participants of European Youth Ballet tour in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. In January 2009, Raimonds Martinovs participated in the guest performances of the Ballet Russe as Albert in Giselle.

 

In 2007, Raimonds Martinovs was awarded the Latvian Theatre Award as the Best Dancer of the Year in 2007 and the Latvijas Gāze Annual Opera Award as the Best ballet soloist (2011).

 

Raimonds Martinovs has performed in Great Britain, Israel, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland among other countries. His roles at the Latvian National Opera Ballet company include Basile, Prince Albert, Franz, Conrad, Romeo, Rothbart and Prince Siegfried, Piotr in Shostakovich's The Bright Stream, Man in Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps, Protector in Khodosko's Cinderella, and Vicomte de Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Vronsky in Eifman's Anna Karenina, Khan Girey in The Fountain of Bakhchisaray, Coppélius and Coppola in Christian Spuck's Der Sandmann. Most recently, he performed solo parts in parody ballet performance Les Gems and Tango plus/Voyages.

 

His roles with the Cape Town City Ballet include Romeo (Veronica Paeper's Romeo and Juliet) and Danilow (Veronica Paeper's Merry Widow).
