George Oniani, graduated from the Tbilisi State Conservatory in and was a member of the soloists' ensemble of the National Georgian Opera in Tbilisi, where he sang Alfredo in La Traviata, Duca in Rigoletto, Orfeo in Peri's Euridice, Abessalom in Paliashvili's Abessalom and Eteri, among others.
George Oniani made his Italian debut as Don José in Carmen (Musica Riva Festival) and was invited to perform the same role at both Tbilisi Music Festival and Trapani, Italy.
He appeared at La Scala in Milano as Riccardo in Verdi's Oberto and performed this role later at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genua. He also sang Arrigo in I Vespri Siciliani (Busseto and Ravenna).
George Oniani has performed roles such as Ugo in Parisina by Mascagni (Bergamo, Severini, conductor), Ugo in Ugo, Conte di Parigi by Donizetti (La Scala in Milano and Catania, Antonio Fogliani, conductor), Turiddu in Cavaleria Rusticana (Brescia, Cremona, Pavia, Como, and Mantova), Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera (Rio de Janeiro, Tbilisi), Roberto in Le Villi (Zempleni Festival, Hungary), Radames in Aida (Tbilisi and the Netherlands), Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Astana), the title role in Don Carlo (Tbilisi), Manrico in Il Trovatore (Kaiserslautern, Dalhalla Opera Festival in Sweden, Tbilisi, The Netherlands, and at the Chaliapine Opera Festival in Russia), Rodolfo in La Bohème (Vilnius and Riga), and Cavaradossi in Tosca (Zomeropera Alden Biesen Festival, Belgium).
Concert engagements include appearances at La Scala in Milano, the Big Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, in Tbilisi (Rossini's Stabat Mater) and in Mexico City (Verdi's Requiem).
He has performed Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera (Bonn, Mannheim and Riga), Maurizio in Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur, Shephard in Szymanowski's King Roger, Rodolfo in La Bohéme, and Duca in Rigoletto (all in Bonn), and Pollione in Norma (Kaiserslautern).
