Evija Martinsone

Soprano

EVIJA MARTINSONE was born in Riga. She graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, class of Prof.Anita Garanča, in 2004. In 2006, she received her Master of Arts degree in vocal music, opera singing profile. She has attended master-classes with Dale Fundling and continues her vocal training with Margreet Honig and Anita Garanča.

Since 2007, she is a leading soloist of the Latvian National Opera. Her repertoire includes 30 roles – Galatea (Acis and Galatea), Almirena (Rinaldo), Morgana (Alcina), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Mimì (La Bohème), Liù (Turandot), title role in Arturs Maskats’s Valentina and others.

Evija Martinsone made her debut at the Latvian National Opera as Galatea in Handel's Acis and Galatea in 2005. For this role the singer was nominated for the Best Debut of the Year in Performing Arts award. Evija Martinsone has received Paul Sakss Award (2007) and Latvijas Gāze Annual Opera Award as a Best Female Soloist (2012).

Evija Martinsone has performed soprano parts in Handel's Messiah, Bach's Weinacht's Oratorium, St.John's Passion, St.Matthew's Passion and St.Marcus Passion, Pergolese's Stabat Mater, Mozart's Requiem and Missa c-moll, Vivaldi's Gloria and others.

She has performed in Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Netherland, Spain, Switzerland, Hong Kong.

Since 2007, she is a lecturer at the Latvian Academy of Music.
